Ian Orlando MacBeth’s real name was John Maurice Beaton who painted under the name of Orlando MacBeth. Originally from Massachusetts, he graduated Cum Laude from Harvard and then studied art in Vienna. His posters, approximately 10 styles, were published by The Third Eye, Inc. from 1968-1973. They were serigraph reproductions on heavy art paper with fluorescent inks. Orlando was a brilliant artist and his vintage black light posters are now considered VERY valuable. For more information on Orlando check out his site: http://www.ianorlandomacbeth.com/Ian_Orlando_Macbeth/Home.html
Our vintage Black Light Posters were produced by The Third Eye Inc. located in New York City from 1967 to 1970. They went bankrupt in late 1970 or early 1971 and these posters were purchased unused in original wrapping at the bankruptcy auction by a business person that planned to ship them overseas. As related to us in 1994 when we purchased them, customs deemed them to be drug related and would not allow him to export them in 1971. He then stored them in the attic at his home in Falls Church, VA until 1994 when we acquired them.
This collection of black light posters are all original new old stock (never put on a wall), and are considered to be rare by the price guide Hippy Collectibles published 10 years ago! We have a limited supply of these amazing vintage posters and once they are gone, they’re gone.
